Mr Mandela, 94, was admitted to hospital in Pretoria with a lung infection, in a serious condition, in the early hours of 8 June.
President Jacob Zuma has said his health continues to improve but his condition remains serious.
Mr Mandela has been in intensive care since he was taken to hospital for the third time this year.
After leading the struggle against white minority rule under the apartheid system, he became South Africa's first black president in 1994.
